Uh Oh, Hitch Itch!

DSC_2808
OK, finally after a lot of time on my back, I have this Silverado ready to tow.  Just in time, too, because “hitch Itch” is just setting in.  I took it to a shop in Prescott Wednesday and it took them about 5 minutes to drill two holes through the frame for the baseplate to fit. Wow, what a difference it makes to have the right tools. Put it on a lift and raise it up, then take a nice, sharp drill bit and an air drill and zip, zip, he was done. So we are ready to roll.

Rollie and Gina, “the kid’s” are headed this way and getting closer by the minute. Last night they made it to El Paso. They should roll on in this afternoon. We are Oh, so anxious to see them!! We can hardly wait. We are all going over to Quartzsite and spend a few days. HOT DOG!!

We were in need of a new grill and Rollie has a Weber “Baby Q” and loves it. I know several other folks that also have one, so we decided that was the grill for us. Back in December, we brought it home. Great little grill!

Only problem I saw with it was, it used these little tiny disposable gas bottles. Maybe OK for traveling but not good for a permanent set up. So I bought this new tank and little “adapter” hose.

OK, now that’s more like it. We’re all set for some serious BBQ'ing!!  I’ll probably still use the little bottles some when we travel.  However, the Motorhome came with a hose so you can use your grill right off the main big propane tank. So we're all set.   Next week sometime we will head on over to the Quartzsite area for a few days. We have lots of friends over there and some folks that we are just dying to meet!!

My good friend, Mark Bruss, sends me a lot of good stuff.  I got this from him and I wanted to share with you.  Some have seen it I’m sure, but if you haven’t, it’s unbelievable.
****************************************************************************
The year is 1910
One hundred years ago.
What a difference a century makes!
Here are some statistics for the Year 1910:

************ ********* ************
The average life expectancy for men was 47 years.
Fuel for cars was sold in drug stores only.
Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.
Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.
There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles of paved roads.
The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.
The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower!
The average US wage in 1910 was 22 cents per hour.
The average US worker made between $200 and $400 per year.
A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year,
a dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year,
and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.

More than 95 percent of all births took place at HOME.
Ninety percent of all Doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION!
Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which
were condemned in the press AND the government as 'substandard.'

Sugar cost four cents a pound.
Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.
Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.
Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.
Extramarital sex was an acceptable practice for both men & women; said to improve the marriage. WOW!
Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering into their country for any reason.
The Five leading causes of death were:
1. Pneumonia and influenza
2. Tuberculosis
3. Diarrhea
4. Heart disease
5. Stroke

The American flag had 45 stars.
The population of Las Vegas, Nevada, was only 30!
Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and iced tea hadn't been invented yet.
There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day.
Two out of every 10 adults couldn't read or write and
Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.
Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at the local corner drugstores.
Back then pharmacists said, 'Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind,
regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health'

(Shocking? DUH! )
Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic help.
There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE U.S.A. !
I am now going to forward this to someone else without typing it myself.
From there, it will be sent to others all over the WORLD - all in a matter of seconds!

Try to imagine what it may be like in another 100 years.
IT STAGGERS THE MIND

It was a GREAT WEEK!!!

Thanks for stopping by. See you Wednesday....maybe from the desert of QUARTZSITE!!

Praise the Lord for all he provides.

You guys go on down to Q and have a great time. We'll pass again this year as we do every year. That BBQ looks great, and the portable tank is a real life saver -- we use one attached to the motorhome when in a camping mode, so we don't have to move the MH to refill.

We have the baby Q as well, and think it is great. We also have the converter hose to hook it up and the roll around cart that folds up when not in use. It fits in the underneath storage bin, when we are not using it.

We hope to go to the big tent in Q sometime this week too!

Mike & Pat,

How interesting that only three days ago, we bought the identical Weber Bar-B-Q. Wishing you many meals grilled on the new barbie.

All the best.

We have that very same Weber BBQ sitting right outside our door & I know what you mean by those little winky dinky portable tanks. We forgot & left our adaptor hose at home:(( Sounds like all you guys are setting yourself up for a big Hootenany out there in the desert shortly:))
