When I got up yesterday the "Hills" looked kinda neat, so I tried to capture some of the beauty,
I took these from our front door facing East. It looks as if it could be smoke but it isn’t. Thankfully fire conditions are very low here this year, with everything so green. This is morning fog and it soon burned off when the sun came up over the horizon.
Friday our good friends Roger and Susan from Florida arrived about 3pm. We had been expecting them and couldn’t wait for them to get here. It was so good to see them again. We always keep in close contact by phone and email but we hadn’t seen them for about 3 years. We got them all set up in Site #1 just in time for Happy Hour! We had a lot of catching up to do…
Roger is my Gun Man....he knows guns inside and out. I wish I had just a fraction of his knowledge about guns because I love handguns and have a few. Roger is one neat guy, a retired Marine, and a retired Police officer. Roger spent some time as a Vice Officer with the Miami Vice. Not the TV show but the "real McCoy"! He and Susan are real fun people to be around and we have a lot of old times to reminisce. Laughing is good for the soul and Roger and I do a lot of it when we are together.
Roger has a Large Volvo 610 Semi Tractor converted to pull his 38’ Mobile Suites 5th wheel. In fact, we both converted our Volvo Trucks at the same time back in 2004. Actually, that's how we met.....studying and searching for information on converting one of these big rigs. We both agree that they are mighty fine "towing machines". They are by far the best truck either of us ever had for safely towing a 5th wheel. I will always cherish the time I spent building it and towing my Teton with it.
Yesterday we went up town to Custer where they are having a Country Fair. We walked around many of the vendor's booths where they were displaying their beautiful wares.
General Custer and his wife were there, so I had to have a picture of Roger and Susan with them. Gee, I’d say old General Custer is holding his age better than my buddy Roger. Just kidding Roger, you're looking GOOD! Not as good as Susan of course!!
My "Idol", John Wayne was there too! Gosh, it looks like ole John has grown himself a mustache...but even so he always was a darn good looking fella!!
Roger caught a picture of me and the "Girls" walking right by all the food concession stands!
There were a few old classic cars and one of them even had Susan’s name on it!! A 1926 Model “T”. “Original”
Smokey Bear was even there! Oh, it's going to be a SUPER 4TH of July Celebration here in Custer, South Dakota in the Black Hills.
Roger carries a nice Harley Road King equipped with a side car on the back of his Volvo. I failed to get a picture of it before we put it in the garage but by Wednesday I’ll have one because today we are planning on a nice Bike ride through Hills. We don’t have many days this time of the year without afternoon thunders storms but today is supposed to be sunny all day. I’m a little skeptical about that as I’ve heard it before and found it not always as predicted. But, we are going to take off in a few minutes and ride down to Hot Springs through Wind Cave National Park and over to visit our friends Bob and Cindy from Nebraska at the KOA. They both have Trikes and are spending their 4th of July vacation touring the Hills. Plus, they have a new to them 41’ Travel Supreme Motorhome we are just dying to see.
It was a GREAT WEEK!!!!
Thanks for stopping by!

By Golly, that's the same ol' General Custer we saw in Custer a couple of years ago! And he still looks great. Maybe he knows the secret to eternal life on earth? Love your pictures of the Black Hills. And it's great you have super friends as visitors. Have a great holiday together.
