Our FIRST desert ride of 2009!!!

Headed for Box Canyon, our first trip out this winter.

This is my Polaris 500. I never realized how great these Polaris 4-wheelers are. Kinda like the Volvo Trucks, they are superb. I absolutely love it.... 4 winters and it has performed perfectly.

Soon we were out in the desert on the trails with our neighbors and friends, Larry and Geri Gustafson, from Custer, SD. They own and operate Broken Arrow Campground. It is located just 3 miles South of our place in the Black Hills. They have to leave the desert in a few days, so we wanted them to see the Box Canyon area before they left.

About 20 miles out, we ran into this special place called "Box Canyon". A tree had fallen across the entrance.

It's a neat area way out in the wilderness along the Hassayampa River. Above Pat and Geri are standing in the opening.

Pat and I are standing back in the Canyon....

Way in the back, Larry decides to climb up to the second level.

Here he stands up above waving down at us! It was beautiful up there!!!
It was a great day in the desert as we found our way around a few more trails and washes before we finally arrived back home at North Ranch. The weather was perfect and we all had a great time. Time flies when you're out there enjoying the beautiful scenery and wide open spaces. I love it!!!

Soon it was time for Larry and Geri to head on North. They wanted to spend a day at the Grand Canyon on their way. It's tough leaving such beautiful weather and country knowing that soon you will be running into snow and freezing weather. We tried to talk them into staying a while longer, but they have lots to do to prepare for the opening of their Campground and had to leave. We will miss them and look forward to seeing them again soon in the Black Hills.
That's it for this time, thanks for stopping by. Ms Mega2 is fine and perking up a little more each day since her operation.
We have an early appointment at the medical lab this morning to start our blood work-ups before we go in for our annual physicals. So that means NO COFFEE,,,,,,we're both about to go BONKERS!!! Love that coffee!! It will sure taste good though when they get those blood tests out of the way. I know RIGHT where they keep the coffee pot!!!:-)
It is a GREAT WEEK!!!!!!!
God Bless
Mike

You know Mike, you wouldn't miss that cup of coffee as much if you would get up a little later in the morning instead of the middle of the night........; )

We are still at Roger and Sue's place....I'm sure they are getting tired of us, but it sure is a nice place. The dogs love it. (We do too!)
