First Blog of 2010,,,

2010 is here, just as we predicted.  All the holidays and celebrating is over and it's back to business as usual. In less than a month, we will be leaving the South Texas Rio Grande Valley and head West. I'm getting anxious and looking forward to getting out where there are some mountains. We plan on leaving here on Jan 28TH and stopping for a couple days at Big Bend National Park south of Alpine, Texas. We have been there before and want to hike some of the trails again and explore Big Bend Ranch State Park right next door to the National Park. After that, we will continue on to Arizona. We should arrive at our place in North Ranch at the Escapee Park near Wickenburg on or about Feb 3RD. We are looking forward to seeing our great neighbors and friends there.

Yes, 2009 is gone forever, gone but not forgotten. Here are a few pictures I put together of last year.

Great memories. 2009 was a good year!

Congratulations are definitely in order for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Florida State Seminoles Football teams. Nebraska beat Arizona in the Holiday Bowl and the Seminoles beat West Virgina in the Gator Bowl. Nice way to end the year for both teams and a wonderful way for the great Bobby Bowden to end his career of 57 years.

We are looking forward to another Great year. I'm sure there will be challenges, but we're up for them  and looking forward to it. ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIER!! CHARGE!!!

It was a GREAT YEAR!!!

God Bless you all from both of us.

Mike

The mountains are probably the biggest draw for us. I feel sad when we head home & I see them slowly disappearing in my rear view mirrors. On our return I strain my eyes coming across the prairie flatlands for the first hazy glimpse of the distant peaks. The mountains of the southwest have become our second home, The way I see it for traveling....'no mountains, no go!!!!

We don't entirely agree with Al. Mountains are wonderful, of course, but we have lived in them, or at least within easy reach, all of our lives, so we still enjoy visiting the prairies, but only VISITING. We'll still always come home to some mountains. Mike, your picture collages were fun to revisit. Now come on west and take some more pictures to show us!

Great idea with the collages, Mike. It was sure a perfect way to remember 2009! We're also looking forward to seeing the desert mountains. We have lots of mountains at home in B.C., of course, but the desert is very different from ours so that makes a nice change.

The mountains are great, we live in them all year long along with the wild animals and few humans. That is a winning combination. Hope that 2010 is a really good year for you guys.

Being born and raised on the red sea in the desert I was always drawn to this magic combination of mountain, desert and water. Can't wait to read your blog about Big Bend, we are heading that direction ourselves, but first we are trying to run away from the cold spell that is coming in next week.

Hey Mike! It's so fun to read your blog. I can hear your voice telling me about your day.

I saw the pix of Ms MegaB in your collage where she's in a plastic sack. There must be a good story. Did she get in it or is it a raincoat???? What was that kitty up to?
